Trip Overview

Nepal, being a mountainous country is filled with wonderful trekking routes. One of those exciting trekking routes is Mardi Himal Trek. It is a quiet and less crowded trek for those who want an “off the beat ’’ trekking experience. It is one of those less noticed treks with some of the best views of the snowcapped mountains and hidden landscapes in the Annapurna region.

Mardi Himal Trek starts with your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport. After a short stay in the Kathmandu valley, the trip begins. During your stay in Kathmandu, you will be visiting various historical and cultural landmarks like Basantapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square which is listed as UNESCO world heritage sites. You will also be visiting other UNESCO world heritage sites like the monkey temple “Swayambhunath’’ and Buddhist stupa “Bouddhanath’’. After Kathmandu, you will be traveling to the beautiful tourist city of Pokhara. The flight to Pokhara is filled with the exquisite sceneries. During this trek, you will pass through the rhododendron forests and enjoy the amazing views of the landscapes at every turn. You can enjoy both camping and homestay during the trek. You will also get to meet the locals and see the ethnic villages in the region. It is a trek with moderate difficulty and doesn’t require super fitness so even first-timers can enjoy this trek.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)

After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, our company representative will come to pick you up at the airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel in a private van or car.

Day 02:  Fly/Drive to Pokhara, 820m

After an early morning breakfast, you will take the flight to Pokhara. There are a lot of places to see in Pokhara. You can spend the evening at Lakeside. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03:  Drive to Kande, trek to Forest Camp 2,540m

After breakfast, you will drive to Kande which will take around 1 hour. You will follow the trail through the forest and reach Deurali. Then you will head off the main trekking trail and follow the forested hill to Forest Camp.

Day 04:  Trek to Low Camp 3,035m

Today you will climb down the hill passing through the beautiful rhododendron forest. There are a few tea houses along the way. You will then get a closer view of Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal. Overnight at lodge.

Day 05:  Trek to High Camp 3,590m

You will climb uphill towards Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre. It will take around 4 hours. From High Camp, you will be able to see the views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna (South) and Hiunchuli.

Day 06:  Hike up to Upper View Point 4,200m, back to High Camp

Today you will hike to the Upper View Point. It is a steep climb and a long walk. There are some difficult rocks along the way. From the Upper View Point, the view is absolutely amazing. You can see the enchanting views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I and Gangapurna. Then you will retrace your steps back to the High Camp.

Day 07:  Trek to Siding Village 1280m

Trekking downhill, you will visit a traditional Nepali village “Siding’’. It will take around 5 to 6 hours to reach the village. You can interact with the locals, taste the local food and witness the local culture. Trekkers prefer homestay in Siding or some may also stay in the one and only lodge available in Siding.

Day 08:  Siding Village to Pokhara

After an early morning breakfast, you will walk towards Lumre and reach the road to begin your drive to Pokhara. It will be a two hours’ drive to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel.

Day 09:  Fly/Drive to Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will take your flight back to Kathmandu. In the evening, you can either go shopping or visit other sites in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10:  Departure to International Airport

The 10-day trip comes to an end. You will be taken to the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule. Then you will take your flight back home.
